Longer Trip 1 - Two day Boat or Kayak Lençóis |
|
Day 1 - Drive 18km to village of Remanso, spend a some time looking around the village at some of the traditional means of living still used in the area before making our way to the river edge. Here we take to the boats or kayaks for the more adventurous and float quietly through the Marimbus mini pantanal, a large fresh water swamp that extends about 30km and is covered by semi-aquatic plants and home to an ever-decreasing population of terrapins, alligators, anacondas and many other amphibians as well as a large number of fish and many species of birds. |

We have a short stop for pack lunch somewhere on route. On arriving at the meeting of the rivers Roncador and Santo Antonio we leave the boats for a short walk to the Roncador house. From here we walk up river to the Sorrisal Pools for swimming. Return to Roncador house for dinner and camp fire. Overnight stay in the house. |

Day 2 – After a local breakfast and swimming in the Roncador River, return to boats and kayaks, continue through the Marimbus with a stop for pack lunch on the way. |

Mid afternoon arrive at the Fetem Bridge or Lake Baiano where you are picked up by jeep for a 4 km off road drive to Garapa River for swimming and the to the town of Andaraí for a drink before return to Lençóis by jeep (1½ hours).
